Treatment Types

Early Treatment

A common question we hear is "Why are so many 2nd graders in braces these days?"  Phase I treatment is not something we recommend to everyone, but when it is indicated, it can make a huge difference in a child's life (and mouth!).  We would much rather see a child too early and just put them in our developmental supervision program than see them too late and have our options limited as to what can be done for them.

A few reasons dentist refer to us at an early age are: cross bites, open bites due to thumb/ finger sucking, large diastemas, severe crowding, missing teeth, and teeth erupting in an irregular manner.

Adolescent Treatment

Drs. King, McCune & Moore recommend monitoring growth and development starting around age seven, but early treatment is not necessary for all patients. Adolescent treatment, begins when the last baby teeth are lost and permanent teeth are erupting. Treatment on adolescents varies case to case. With appliances, braces, or Invisalign, the doctors will be able to align teeth and correct bite. Orthodontic problems do not improve with age, but simply become harder to treat.

Adult Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is not just for kids anymore. Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. We offer a variety of treatments that are designed for different age groups – including adults. A new smile can begin today. Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.
